Merel Taal

I trained in Veterinary Science at Utrecht University, over in the Netherlands.

Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of working in the field across the Netherlands, the Irish Republic and the UK.

MRCVS, DVM, CHPV

I graduated in 2007 and after working many years as a locum Veterinary Surgeon I founded Dignipets in 2015 to bridge the gap of care between diagnosis and euthanasia.

Working with pet carers and vet practices together to make end of life for a pet the best it can be is my favourite part of my job.

Helping pet caregivers provide their animals with the best possible final months is incredibly fulfilling. When I began my journey as a veterinarian, I was eager to do it all, with a particular passion for surgery. However, I soon realized that my true calling lies in hospice care and end-of-life support. Additionally, I have the opportunity to assist fellow veterinarians in establishing their own practices, which has become a delightful aspect of building a successful brand.

My job is to connect with vets who find helping pets with their final journey rewarding and want home visits for euthanasia offered in their own area.

Yes – I have 1 dog and several rescue cats

She is called Smelley smerl because she likes rolling in poo. The cats are all feral and refuse to be photographed!
