The DIGNI Framework
The DIGNI Framework was developed by the Dignipets hospice team to help make contextualised end-of-life care practical and achievable in everyday veterinary practice. Rather than focusing solely on disease and treatment options, it provides a structured approach to exploring the wider factors that influence decision-making, including quality of life, caregiver capacity, goals of care, anticipatory grief, available support and welfare considerations. Designed for use throughout the hospice journey, the framework helps veterinary professionals and pet carers work together to identify the most appropriate path forward for the individual pet and family, recognising that good end-of-life care is rarely one-size-fits-all.
